Throughout this first portion of the semester, students in Programming I completed three quizzes assessing their programming skills thus far. Each students score for each quiz were entered into the excel spreadsheet that was created last week. The larger class section was divided into two smaller groups on the spreadsheet, and after doing such we calculated the average score for each of the quizzes, for the three groups of students. Based off of the average scores, we were able to determine which set of students would operate as the control group, and which would operate as the experimental group and be tested for an increase in motivation through the use of competition. Additionally, each team member was assigned a task to work on independently, outside of team meetings.
